Mishima Yukio’s 1966 silent movie (starring himself) clocks in at just under 30 minutes, but it has all the gore and creepiness and cold, borderline-kitsch aesthetic that you’d expect from this author. Ever since I read John Nathan’s quite brilliant biography of Mishima, I’ve wanted to see this film. Now you can, too. Greylodge has “Yûkoku – Rite of Love & Death” for download. Plus a review by Donald Richie. Go see it now.
